Yan Diomande: Liverpool target prefers PSG move
Liverpool's pursuit of Yan Diomande has taken a significant turn as the 19-year-old winger has reportedly shown a strong preference for a move to Paris St-Germain (PSG). The French club is currently in negotiations with RB Leipzig, aiming to secure Diomande's services in the coming weeks. This development comes after Liverpool's initial bid of £69 million, plus an additional £17 million in potential add-ons, was rejected by Leipzig earlier this month. The German club is expected to demand around £129 million for Diomande, who joined them from Spanish side Leganes last summer on a five-year contract. Leipzig's management has made it clear that they are under no financial pressure to sell the young talent. In fact, they are prepared to offer Diomande an improved contract to ensure he remains with the club for at least another season. This situation adds an interesting dynamic to the transfer market, as both Liverpool and PSG are keen on strengthening their squads ahead of the new season. PSG's summer planning is being spearheaded by chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting adviser Luis Campos, and manager Luis Enrique, who are looking to make high-profile additions to a squad that recently clinched its second consecutive Champions League title and another Ligue 1 championship. The potential arrival of Diomande at PSG could coincide with several departures from the club. Striker Goncalo Ramos is expected to join AC Milan in a deal worth approximately £63 million, while other exits, including midfielder Lee Kang-in and forward Randal Kolo Muani, are also anticipated. Meanwhile, Liverpool is not only focused on Diomande; they are also interested in France winger Bradley Barcola, although PSG is reportedly keen on extending his contract as well. In a bid to bolster their attacking options, Liverpool recently signed Spain winger Victor Munoz for £34.5 million from Osasuna, marking the first signing since Andoni Iraola took over as head coach. As the transfer window progresses, the competition for Diomande's signature is likely to heat up, with both clubs eager to secure the services of one of the most promising young talents in European football.
