Qatar Condemns Israeli Aggressions Against Syria
On June 29, 2026, Qatar, along with Jordan and Saudi Arabia, issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli incursions into the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Daraa. The three nations called for an immediate halt to these aggressions and urged the international community to intervene and fulfill its responsibilities. In separate statements from their foreign ministries, they emphasized the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, demanding an end to the Israeli attacks. The Qatari Foreign Ministry specifically condemned the Israeli incursions in Quneitra and Daraa, which were accompanied by artillery shelling targeting several areas. This aggression was described as a severe violation of Syria's sovereignty and a blatant breach of international law and humanitarian law. The ministry warned that the continuation of such dangerous Israeli actions could exacerbate tensions in the region and undermine efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability. Furthermore, Qatar's foreign ministry called on the international community to take action against Israel, urging it to comply with international law and hold it accountable for its repeated crimes and aggressions. Qatar reiterated its full solidarity with Syria, affirming its unwavering support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as for all efforts to achieve security and stability for its people. Saudi Arabia expressed its complete rejection of the actions taken by Israeli occupation forces that terrorize innocent civilians and violate international laws and norms. Reports indicated that the Israeli army fired upon civilians in Daraa, targeting a village with artillery shells while aircraft flew overhead. Following the tensions, calm returned to Abidin as residents began to return to their homes after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from a hill they had occupied temporarily. This recent escalation is part of a broader pattern of Israeli violations within Syrian territory, which have intensified in recent months, including house raids, searches, and the establishment of checkpoints, leading to the detention of civilians, including farmers and children. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel declared the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement and took control of the Syrian buffer zon…
