The ongoing legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt concerning the French winery 'Chateau Miraval' has taken a new turn following Pitt's recent court victory. Reports from American media and entertainment websites indicate that the California Supreme Court approved a request from Pitt's legal team on June 17, requiring several officials from the company that acquired 'Chateau Miraval' to testify in the legal dispute over the winery's ownership. This decision marks a significant development in a case that has seen numerous twists and turns since the couple's separation.
In June 2025, Pitt sought to question Alexey Olinnik, one of the company officials, but Olinnik refused to provide the requested documents or appear for testimony, citing his residence in Switzerland. However, the court dismissed this argument and scheduled hearings in London, with the expectation that testimony will be completed by September 30. The court's ruling not only mandated Olinnik to testify but also included individuals who possess the most knowledge about the deal, recognizing their importance in understanding its structure and processes.
In response to the court's decision, Jolie's attorney expressed that his client is looking forward to the upcoming trial, confident in her ability to resolve the case in her favor. This sentiment reflects Jolie's desire for her family to finally focus on healing and moving forward after years of legal disputes. Pitt's lawsuit against Jolie, initiated in 2023, sought damages following her sale of her stake in 'Chateau Miraval' to a consortium allegedly linked to Russia, which he claimed harmed the reputation of the project they co-founded.
The legal entanglements between the two stars have been extensive, with Jolie's legal team emphasizing the necessity of ongoing judicial proceedings to obtain evidence that they believe refutes Pitt's claims. Jolie's attorney, Paul Murphy, highlighted that during negotiations for the sale of Jolie's stake in the winery, Pitt attempted to impose a broad non-disclosure agreement, which Jolie rejected, citing concerns over what she described as his 'personal misconduct and abuses'. This refusal has kept the legal battle alive, as Jolie seeks to end the conflict and start anew for the sake of her family. Despite the legal completion of their divorce, the disputes surrounding 'Chateau Miraval' continue to loom large over both their lives.
