UK Intercepts Oil Tanker from Russia's Shadow Fleet in English Channel

On Sunday, British forces executed a six-hour operation in the early hours to intercept an oil tanker suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet in the English Channel. This operation, described by the UK’s defence ministry as the first of its kind led by the UK, involved the boarding of the vessel SMYRTOS by Royal Marine Commandos and specially trained officers from the National Crime Agency. The operation was supported by aircraft, including Chinook helicopters, and naval vessels such as the frigate HMS Sutherland.
