Algerian Interior Minister to Visit Paris in a Few Days

The Algerian Interior Minister, Saïd Sayoud, is scheduled to visit Paris in the coming days, as announced by Laurent Nuñez in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche. This visit is seen as a significant step in the ongoing process of warming relations between Algeria and France. Nuñez emphasized that a security cooperation is gradually being reinstated, which reflects a positive shift in bilateral ties after a period of tension. He noted, "Having exchanges with Algeria is necessary, especially with millions of people on both sides of the Mediterranean who are directly affected by Franco-Algerian relations." In addition to Sayoud's visit, the French Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, is also expected to travel to Algeria to discuss judicial relations and address the case of journalist Christophe Gleizes, who is currently imprisoned in Algeria. This series of high-level visits indicates a concerted effort by both governments to restore and strengthen their diplomatic ties, which have been tested in recent years. As the situation evolves, the French government remains hopeful for a resolution regarding Gleizes's case, with Nuñez expressing cautious optimism about the possibility of his release before the upcoming World Cup.
